Tina Simmons met Sushila Oliphant while working on corporate projects and websites. During that time, Tina had started Namastyles and was seeking an artist for her yoga clothing company. Sushila then directed Tina to her online galleries and the rest is history!
The Namastyles Brand has been evolving for several years, focusing on creating active-wear designs, accessories and giftware. Namastyles once had a retail location at the Anuttara Shala in South Florida which has since evolved into a full web-based only business. Namastyles also works in partnership with an import business that offers many wonderful items from Bali, India and Indonesia called Entire Fashion and John Rooney Imports.
Namastyles' images are steeped in spirit, honoring Yogic and Native American traditions. Namastyles' main mission is to help raise humanities' consciousness, one step at a time, through these lovely designs, mantras and profound messages.
Comfort is also key these days and these yoga clothes are just that and can be worn from “yoga studios to urban wear”. They can be truly worn everywhere - while looking fabulous!

About Sushila Oliphant
Sushila spent several years in an ashram studying Vedantic Yoga philosophy under Swami Jyotirmayananda whose teachings changed her life and will be ever grateful to him for the experience. She helped illustrate his books, monthly magazine "The Yoga Guide" and designed the first website from 1996 - 2010. She learned the art of graphic design while working on his publications which became the foundation of her future work out in the world. Her artwork deepened and became meditative, a tool for higher consciousness - the painter and the painting merge. Each piece of art that she creates leaves its mark on the viewer of serenity and spiritual sensitivity.
The artist works in pen and ink, pastels, colored pencils, graphite, watercolor, collages, acrylics on found wood and also does photography and digital photography with Photoshop. Nature and spiritual themes are her favorite subjects. Sushila has developed Namastyles' clothing line of Native American, Mayan and Yoga T-Shirts from her artwork. She also has her own graphic / web design business since 1996. It is through her company that she met Tina and designed the first website for Namastyles and also the current site.
Ms. Oliphant has won several awards for her work in various art shows in Maine, Colorado, Merida, Mexico and Florida. Her interest in indigenous cultures led her to the Institute of Maya Studies at the Museum of Science in Miami, where she served on the board for over six years, designed the monthly newsletter, event posters and other marketing materials.
Artist of Distinction Award
"Three of Sushila Oliphant's paintings were selected for this exhibition, and she was named an Artist of Distinction for her particularly wonderful and meaningful contributions. They are beautiful...colorful, vibrant, rich...the tones are deep, akin to those of a haunting cello or lyric basso profondo. These paintings speak to the grandeur and splendor of Nature, calling us to bow with respect and in worship. Oliphant so perfectly captures that aspect of Nature that makes it bigger and greater than all of us, though we are all contained within it. She captures the spiritual aspect of Nature, that part that feeds our souls, that part that Thoreau honored in his writings about Nature, that part of which we can never have enough." — Christine Brooks Cote / Still Point Art Gallery

"Oliphant's piece, Symbolism, is successful in its balance and harmony – inspiring a meditative and contemplative space that is truly Zen-like, reflecting the magic and mystery of life in this world and beyond."
